Howdy Y'all!
Don't I just sound
like Paula Deen!? Hehehe! Well I feel like her today, sorta! I am
giving you my Peanut Butter Pie recipe which Bill would just die
for, one of his most favorites! Anyway it's so good "makes you want
to slap your Grandma!" I don't think I have given this one away
before, and if I have, I apologize for posting it twice, but
honestly it's so good it's worth another post if I did! Hope you all
enjoy the pie.
I got Bills Grandma's
recipe for Overnight cookies at the reunion last week and came home
anxious to try em out, well they turned out good at first and today
they are hard as a brick. Don't know what happened. She had teaspoon
wrote out for the stuff with teaspoon and for the vanilla, baking
soda and cream of tarter she had a capital T which I assumed meant
tablespoon. Maybe not, Bill says they taste like his Grandmas but he
don't remember them being that hard, so I don't know what happened.
I told him to stick a few in the microwave and soften them up before
eating them!! I was going to post that recipe this week for
everyone, but I better wait until I figure out what went wrong!
Speaking of the
family reunion last Sunday.......it was a nice cool day and we had
lots to eat....it was so nice that most people didn't come, probably
had better things to do on such a nice day I guess. We only had 40
this year, which is down considerably from last year. I was elected
to be Secretary and Treasurer again for next year. I don't mind,
it's not that big of a deal for me and nobody else wants to do it.
Everyone loved the Chicken Casserole and Alaskan Sheet Cake, had to
give out the recipe for those of course. One nice thing is, that
recipes get exchanged at the reunion and with all the older ones
there you don't see so often talking about reunions long ago and how
so and so always made this one great dish..........well... I am
always ready with a pen and paper to jot any recipe they give down!!
Heeehehehe!
Well here in the
Buckeye state, it has been the most wonderful, cool, sunny,
beautiful, summer week a human being could possibly ask for! Bill
says it's going to get hot again...but at least we have had these
wonderful days. Wish it could be like this all summer long. Angie
and I went fishing a couple of nights. I caught 9 fish, she caught
0! She was so mad! We were even sharing the worm, she took half and
I took half. Fishing in the same vicinity and everything. I guess
the fishies just like me! I felt sorry for her though. She wanted to
catch a fish so bad, and she had lots of bites too. Just don't know
what happened!
Well I got my purse
finished and it turned out great. It's just not for me though. And I
'm afraid it may be a bit big for a 13 year old girl as well. So
Katie won't be getting it for Christmas afterall! I decided to
sell it in my Etsy store, so if you are interested in seeing it,
here is the link:
Golden
Thimbles Etsy Store. It's the Amy Butler Birdie Sling. Boy is
that purse lined well. The fabric is fab! I like it, but I think I
may be too old for such a youngish bag. Oh well. Such is life!
The
Block of
the week is another good one. It's called Tulip Basket and I
think you will like this one. Looks hard, but it's not really. A
beginner could make this up and it looks like it was complicated but
wasn't. Just love that kind of block! I hope you enjoy making this
block. I recently took notice, that I have a bunch of blocks made up
with this block of the week thing and the special request blocks. I
am wondering what to do with all these orphan blocks. Have any ideas
let me know! I don't think they would make a good quilt. Too many
different colors that don't go together!
The site of the week
is called Jelly
Rolls 2 Go, she has some new patterns, projects and even a
historical page to visit for information. I think you all should
take a min and go check her site out. I had her listed on the
free
quilting links pages before, for a yardage calculator only, but
she has emailed me and told me that she updated her site recently
and has added free patterns and projects, so go and get some of
those freebies! She has a great site, you will enjoy it!
Well I guess I better
close this out for today, I put a chicken in the oven about an hour
and a half ago along with some nice potatoes, and they should be
getting done. The potatoes were huge so I figure it's going to take
a while for them. After dinner, and after the dishes are cleaned up
we are taking a ride over to Bills Aunt Janet's farm and visit with
her a spell. She is so nice and a great cook! I am going to see if
she has that same cookie recipe for overnight cookies.... and if she
does......I am going to check it out with the one the other Aunt
wrote down for me and see if there are errors in the recipe! Besides
it's a grand sunny wonderful Sunday afternoon going on and I don't
want to miss a thing, while it lasts! Rosie is going too and looking
forward to it! She loves to visit the farm! Hope you all have a
great week, this would be a good time to get your sewing room
organized. I am going to be doing that myself this week. Going
through some stuff and maybe seeing what the stash has in it. That
will definitely take some time! Have a great day! Talk to ya next
week!!
From my sewing room to yours,
Becky

Quilting Tip!
Curved Safety Pins!
If you don't use
curved safety pins for basting your quilt, switch to these
work-savers immediately. You won't need to stay bent over
the quilt for such a long time while you try to find the
point of the pin through all the layers of your quilt.
