This particular finished sashing is 1 1/2 inches wide by 72 ½ inches long and is of the background fabric You will cut 2 strips that are 2 inches wide by Width of Fabric and then sew them together to make one long strip and cut to 73 inches long, this will go under the "Gathering Blackberries" row. You will trim any excess even with the side of the quilt! This is your last sashing for your quilt. It is a little smaller than the other sashings were.

Handle Template Instructions! |
|
Print out the handle template from the PDF file provided and make a template from template plastic or whatever you normally use and trace the handle onto the wrong side of your fabric. Appliqué using your favorite method of appliqué. Freezer Paper Method I use the freezer paper method for templates that are this small. Here is how I made mine! If you use this method you don't need to include the seam allowance that is given! First go to your local grocery or Wal Mart and buy a roll of freezer paper. It's in the sandwich and baggies section, just in case you have never bought this item before! Tear a piece of paper big enough to trace 4 handles on. You will be tracing on the dull side of the paper. Trace the handles using the templates (without the seam allowance) and cut them out. Iron the paper pieces with the shiny side down onto the wrong side of the fabric. Leave a seam allowance “space” around each piece when you iron it on. Cut out each handle leaving a small seam allowance enough to turn under. Do not remove the paper! Take a needle and thread and baste the seam allowance to the paper, leaving the ends open, this doesn't need to be perfect, just make sure you clip the curves before sewing so the curves are easier to baste! Iron each piece flat on both sides and let cool completely. When you are ready to appliqué the handle to the large triangle piece, remove the thread gently and remove the paper and it is perfect for appliquéing! Just fold your triangle in half and crease so you know where the center is to keep your handle centered for the basket part! |

Far and near I sought
Utterance in a thought
A garden blooming, just for you;
So flowers that will not wilt
I stitched into a quilt,
My treasure-trove of memories for you
